Funding:
Rocky Reach Tributary Fund

Project Location:
This project is located on the right bank of main stem Methow River between Carlton and Gold Creek.

Project Description/Purpose:
The Clees Well and Pump project is designed to drill a well and abandon the current surface water diversion for the landowner. There is currently a large debris buildup upstream in the side channel from where the siphon is located. The landowner has a valid water right to remove water from the Methow River, however, the debris pile has blocked the side channel allowing barely enough water to satisfy his needs at low summer flows. In order to continue to promote large woody debris and natural stream channel functions, the landowner will dig a well and abandon the surface diversion. This project will also eliminate any screening issues and potential harm to listed species that result from surface water withdrawals.
