  • Public Outreach Activities - 2007/2008

    April 21 2007:

    Short update on the progress of the steelhead hatchery planning and question/answer session with Chiwawa Homeowner Association at Lake Wenatchee Recreation Center. Discussed steps taken to minimize hatchery traffic impacts and dust abatement.

    September 22, 2007:
    Short update on the progress of the steelhead hatchery planning and question/answer session with Chiwawa Homeowner Association at Lake Wenatchee Recreation Center.

    December 13, 2007:
    PUD staff meet with U.S. Forest Service staff to provide information on the proposed project and to clarify processes necessary to secure required permits.

    January 12, 2008:
    Meet with Chiwawa Homeowner Association Board to discuss current planning status. Working on technical design issues with the Hatchery Committee (members include representatives from NOAA Fisheries, U.S. Fish and Wildlife, Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, Yakama Nation, Colville Confederate Tribes, and Chelan County PUD). The Committee is considering two different pond configurations and trapping options. 

    June 2008:
    Project update letter mailed to Chiwawa Communities Association members.

    September 2008:
    The Chelan County PUD plans on attending the Chiwawa Homeowner Association meeting on September 27, 2008 to discuss finalizing our 30% design, various permit and water rights issues that we’re working on, and addressing potential impacts of recent hatchery reform efforts.
